I have had a very positive and enjoyable experience learning online. As the weeks and semesters passed, I became more comfortable with school and naturally developed a routine for homework and going to work.Assignments were simple to understand and there was plenty of time for me to read my lessons and get the homework done. Discussion boards would allow me to talk to my classmates and make me feel like I belong, and that we are all in this together. While semester projects were the most difficult assignments, they have also given me the most pride and joy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the online OILS program. I took courses that interested me, and many of the skills I had gained have already been applied to my work. I loved completing this program online: UNM’s online program allowed me to work full-time while attending school. During my time taking classes, I had two kids. I am very fortunate that I was able to continue going to school with little time off. I am already planning on returning back for a second graduate degree!

“I think AOP students can expect the highest level of education from their Psychology courses at UNM. Our Department has made a commitment that only faculty members will be teaching these AOP classes so the level of expertise and teaching experience will be high.”

“My students had some of the largest increases and significantly higher end-of-semester positive ratings relative to courses from six other institutions in measures of trust and fairness, self-efficacy, growth mindset, identity safety, social belonging, and social connectedness."

Program Details and Common Questions

How do I transfer from CNM to UNM?
Completing your associate degree at CNM can help fast-track you toward admission at UNM. A few less credits are OK, but you’ll have more classes to take after you transfer.

If you are eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship or federal financial aid it will follow you to UNM, just be sure to update your FAFSA!

Admission requirements are simple, either 24 credit hours with a minimum “C” average or a complete associate degree.

The application requires transcripts and an application fee.
What are UNM's Accelerated Online Programs (AOPs)?
Accelerated refers to the fast-paced 8-week schedule, which is similar to what you’re used to as a CNM student. The 8-week model allows students to work through degree requirements faster than with typical 16-week semester courses.

Accelerated online courses are designed at UNM to fit specific course quality

requirements.

Accelerated online program courses use the same robust curricula as their classroom counterparts. Courses are never taught by third-party instructors, and though online classes are not held in a physical classroom, you can expect diverse interactions with classmates and faculty.

What Undergraduate Degree Programs are available?

Bachelor of Business Administration

Chicana/Chicano Studies

Community Health Education

Instructional Technology & Training

Native American Studies

Psychology

What are the undergraduate degree completion program requirements?
Our undergraduate accelerated online programs are considered degree completion programs. This means that students transferring in with an associate degree, or 60-70 credit hours, are ideally positioned to enter this program.

If you have fewer transferable credits, it may still be possible for you to apply. You will need to work with your Academic Advisor to complete general education requirements.

*Some general education courses are offered online, however, these requirements are usually fulfilled with an associate degree.
Can degree-completion programs let me finish my bachelors’ degree online?
Yes, you can do the entire degree completion program onlineif you’ve finished or are nearing completion of your general education courses.
How long is the program?
Degree completion time will depend on how much time you have to devote to your studies each semester; Most online students at UNM take two 3-credit-hour courses each 8 weeks, meaning that they can complete the average degree in about a year.

There are five 8-week “mini-mesters” in a year: Two in the Fall, two in the Spring, and one in the Summer
How do I attend classes?
You can do your coursework just about anywhere in the world if you have a decent computer, up to date browser, and a reliable internet connection.

All online courses take place within the Canvas Learning Management System.

You'll complete each week's assignments when convenient for your while maintaining specific course deadlines.
Are there required meeting times?
Most 8-week courses in these online degree programs are asynchronous, meaning they don't have live meeting times.
